NAB India Centre for Blind Women is one of a kind Centre for empowering and rehabilitating blind women in India. It’s also the only centre to conduct job mapping studies to develop as many jobs as possible for blind or visually impaired women in India. The Centre provides training to both educated and uneducated visually impaired women, enabling them to gain suitable employments, take up higher education, and regain their careers after a gap (due to the late onset of blindness). The Centre is busy enabling Livelihood Creation for the hidden visually impaired (VI) women by empowering them with skills and training that help them lead a life of dignity and socio-economic independence.

Dr. Frank Hoffmann from Discovering Hands Germany and Ms. Shalini Khanna from NAB India Centre for Blind Women came together to transform “Disabilities into Capabilities”. As a result, the NAB India Centre for Blind Women emerged as the pioneering organization to introduce Discovering Hands in Asia. With this project discovering hands, Ms. Shalini Khanna envisions creating awareness about the early detection and prevention of breast cancer and training visually impaired women to earn their dignified livelihood.
